Agriculture policy affects the central mission of our scientific society to create new knowledge on the conservation and wise use of natural resources to produce food, feed, and fiber crops while maintaining and improving the environment.

In the United States, the Farm Bill is the primary agricultural and food policy tool of the federal government dealing with agriculturea and other affairs under the purview of the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA). The National Institute of Food and Agriculture (NIFA) and the Agriculture and Food Research Initiative (AFRI) competitive grants program are under the USDA Research, Education and Economics (REE) mission area.
