Celebrate the International Year of Pulses in 2016 and beyond -

Informative, timeless, and entertaining videos for K-12 audiences...and everyone who loves pulses!

Crop Science Society of America, in conjunction with USDPLC (http://iyp2016.org/resources/lesson-plans), created two short, entertaining and educational video messages to celebrate the International Year of Pulses. Pulses are not only good for humans--they are good for the soil, too!

The videos are free! Watch them via the embedded YouTube links here (full screen button on the lower right), or you can download them by clicking "download now" below each video. They are also available on YouTube at (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCbStMh1FzEjiS-uFBfUmMcA). Many thanks to Ramona Farms, Arizona, for letting us videotape in their garbanzo bean fields! Soil Health (3 minutes) outlines the process of nitrogen fixation. Working with soil microbes, pulse plants take nitrogen from the air and make their own food. In return, they provide the soil microbes with sugars they need - and when the plants die, they return excess nitrogen to the soil, improving soil health! Click on the button to watch here,
